ThermoGenius™ Water M awarded project of the month by bwp (German Heat Pump Association)
The German Heat Pump Association (bwp) named the ThermoGenius™ Water M water heat exchanger as the March 2020 Project of the Month.
The bwp (Bundesverband Wärmepumpe e.V.) is an association of around 500 members. It stands for professional representation of the interests of companies along the entire value chain in connection with heat pumps. Covering the German market, they are a leading authority that provide a range of information designed to help support the de-carbonisation the heating markets. To recognise new and innovative products that contribute to this goal, the bwp association announce their ‘Product of the Month March’ which was awarded to the ElringKlinger – ThermoGeniusTM Water M heat collectors which are used with water-operated heat pump systems. This prestigious accolade was accompanied with details of a recent installation where a ThermoGeniusTM Water M unit was used to heat and cool a floating holiday home located at Olpenitz on the Baltic Sea.
The holiday home in question had previously used an air source heat pump however this proved unreliable in the harsh conditions and suffered failures as a consequence of the salt water environment. This system was replaced with a brine-water 6 kW heat pump which was linked to a ThermoGeniusTM Water M1 heat exchanger anchored immediately adjacent to the floating home. The heat pump itself was linked to the underfloor heating in the floating home. The combination of the heat pump and ThermoGeniusTM Water M unit has been a complete success and has proved to be totally reliable with a remarkable coefficient of performance of 6. Particularly pleasing was the passive cooling the heat pump was able to offer when in the summer months the house boat heated up considerably due to the reflection of the sun from the surface of the sea.
ThermoGeniusTM receives pro-K award 2019
The ThermoGeniusTM water heat exchanger received the pro-K award 2019 as part of the pro-K competition organised by Industrieverband Halbzeuge und Konsumprodukte aus Kunststoff e.V.
Each year, the pro-K award is given to the best consumer products made of plastic in recognition of their outstanding product properties. The main criteria for this award are innovation, product design, and—most of all—functionality.
The pro-K award stands for quality in plastic and is the only competition that focuses exclusively on plastic products. The winners are selected by a high-calibre, independent jury of experts.
In 1979, pro-K Industrieverband Halbzeuge und Konsumprodukte aus Kunststoff e.V. launched an industry competition for consumer products made of plastic, bringing the material’s diverse possibilities into the spotlight.
A total of 19 consumer products made of plastic, including products from Gardena and Kärcher, were winners in the ten categories of the pro-K award 2019. The winning products reflect the diverse applications of plastic, ranging from office supplies and household products to toys.
The awards has been presented on 10 January 2019 as part of the pro-K award night in Frankfurt, Germany.
